Definitely! We offer so many great services, and annual exams and pap smears are just a couple of them! An annual exam is a comprehensive exam that you should get once per year. Pap smears are needed once every 3 years starting at age 21, unless you have had an abnormal pap smear in the past. Your doctor will tell you if you are due for one during your exam.
Many women aren’t sure how often they should see a doctor, why they should see a doctor, or what will happen at an annual exam / yearly checkup. Because of this, many women only see a doctor when they have a problem, rather than for preventive healthcare. An annual exam is meant to make sure you are healthy and detect any potential issues BEFORE they have a chance to get worse or cause any other problems.
At your annual exam, you will:
Get a physical exam
Get a breast exam
Determine the best birth control for you (if needed)
Have the chance to discuss any concerns with your doctor
Have the chance to discuss preventing cervical cancer with the HPV vaccine
Get tested for STDs (if needed)
Get a pelvic exam and pap smear (if needed)
The best part? For most patients, this annual exam will cost nothing out of pocket! If you have FPACT, an annual exam is covered at no cost to you. Don’t have FPACT yet? We can get you enrolled ON SITE if you qualify, so you don’t have to go anywhere else and you can get your exam that same day. If you have insurance, an annual physical and gynecological exam is covered under preventative healthcare, although depending on your insurance, you may need a referral from your primary physician.
It is imperative to schedule this brief annual exam to maintain your overall health. In the long run it can save you money, time and most importantly, your life.
